April 13, 2021 Thoughts

Why not be positive about what the Lord has in store for you today? God has some great verses of scripture to help us deal with the issues of life. One such verse can be found in Psalms 90:14 KJV, O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. This is one of those positive verses that we could use to remind us to look forward to what God can do in and through us.

Our relationship with the Lord is built on our experiences. One experience should build on another. It should not surprise us what the Lord can do for us as we depend on His mercy and grace. We need to show some excitement in our life as the Lord does things for us. We should never dread the beginning a day because of what we are going to face. We simply trust the Lord for His provision and He will take care of seeing that we are successful in accomplishing what we need to do.

John 1:4 KJV In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Every day you should be celebrating because you have new life in Jesus. God’s precious gift to mankind is coveted because he is our Redeemer and Savior. We rejoice that every day we can remember the life of Jesus and the special blessing it gave to us all. We will be eternally thankful for receiving the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. God’s gift is something that will last forever in the heart of a believer. We want to remember and give thanks to God for His provision.

From the gospel of John, we discover that the gift has been around forever. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God, and the Word was with God. Jesus represents life and light to all those who believe on Him and follow Him.

John 15:17 KJV These things I command you, that you love one another.

There is something missing in our lives if we do not have love for our God, our fellow man, and ourselves.  Jesus’ teaching revolved around the demonstration of love in all aspects of life.

I would like to tell you that Jesus never had an unkind word to say about anyone.  However, when I search the Bible, I discover selected moments in Jesus’ life when he said words that, though not derogatory, they were said to make one think that they needed to re-evaluate their position on the subject. Pray that God will allow you to be more encouraging and supportive with others.

Pray also that God will allow you to show others more love than you have in the past.  When you show love, you will receive love in return.  One feeds the other.  Practice showing love today.  Do something for someone who is unsuspecting and watch their response.

2 Timothy 1:13 KJV Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Paul was an encourager.  He had a great friend and brother in Christ in Barnabas.  We all would do well to encouraging others often.  Paul wanted Timothy to understand that the knowledge that he learned was a result of his relationship with Jesus Christ.  Remember where the Word comes from.  God has inspired others to formulate the message in the Bible.  This message has been proven to be accurate and worthy of adaptation into our personal lives.  We receive many benefits from reading and studying God’s Word.  I am not an expert by any means, but I have come to appreciate the message that God give me through the Holy Spirit every time I use it in my ministry.

Hold fast means to read the Word and try it out in your daily living.  I have had the privilege of having excellent mentors as I have grown in the ministry.  I cannot say that I always agreed with everything that I have been taught.  When a question develops and scriptural clarification is needed, I have used God’s Word for instruction and reinforcement as I ascertain the truth as only God can reveal to those that seek it.

Faith and love are characteristics we are should have because of knowing God’s Son.  He is our example, and we should emulate His life.
