June 28, 2017 Reflection

Reflection for Today:

2 Corinthians 9:14 KJV
And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

You would do well to spend a little time with Jesus today. I don’t mean physically, of course, because He hasn’t returned as promised. I mean spend time in prayer, reading God’s Word, and serving your fellow man. Use your time to spread God’s love to others. It will help you grow as a Christian because you become that which you portray. Pray for the less fortunate and those going through difficult times. Find an encouraging passage from God’s Word that allows you to see how God has shown His love to His creation. Give a friend a call and tell them you want to pray for them. Ask them if there is anything specific to pray about. Everything you do will help you and your friends experience God’s love in a wonderful and powerful way.

Reflection for Today:

1 John 3:1 KJV
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Being a part of the family of God is a wonderful experience. To see the hand of God working in a group of people who have a common focus is very uplifting. This can only happen when people come together realizing that they serve for the same purpose. That purpose is to share God’s love with others and to grow the community of believers who look forward and not backward. Thank you Lord for forgiving our sin so that we become sinners saved by grace. That grace is so great that we believe that our past mistakes are forgiven and we can pursue the finish line that leads to eternal life.

Reflection for Today:

1 John 2:15 KJV
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

“How do I love thee? Let me show you the ways.” Famous words from a very famous poet, Elizabeth Barret Browning. How you chose to shown your love is very important. John says to not love the world. What I think he meant was to not love those things that do not honor God. When what your do takes advantage of others then you are not representing the love of God. When you only think of self then love for others is missing from your life. When your overall objective is to enjoy the blessings you have and share them with others then the love of God is benefiting all those around you.

Reflection for Today:

1 John 2:6 KJV
He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked.

John’s words are great words to live by. If Christ actually is centrally focused for your life then you will make every effort to live and act as Christ did while he was here on earth. The Word “walk” means to demonstrate the character traits of the one you are following. What does that consist of? Well you should definitely be a person of prayer. You should reflect kindness in all your dealings with your family and friends. You should attempt bringing people together and not causing any kind of separation. You will be understanding even when people fail to live in harmony with you and others. You should accept people as another creation of God and be glad each of you are a member of the family of God.
